THE CAVERNS ARE OPEN AGAIN

Providence Mountains State Recreation Area, “Home of Mitchell Caverns” is once again      open to the public as of November 3, 2017.

The Committee to Reopen Mitchell Caverns wishes to thank all donors and those who          expressed interest in this wonderful park for their support.

Reservations are required to tour Mitchell Caverns with its newly installed lighting. 

Please call the park directly at (760) 928-2586 and plan ahead as tours are already filling up.

New items purchased include mountain lion and ground sloth skull replicas, GPS unit, HDTV, binoculars, a trail camera & display cases.

October 17, 2013 - Progress is being made on work at Mitchell Caverns.  Here is a photo from the “new” visitor’s center with the upgraded interior.  Also, one major project remaining is the water system.
